What made you decide to be a therapist?
I decided to become a therapist to better understand the traumas I’d experienced in my personal life and use my training to guide others in doing the same for their lives. I’ve been fortunate to have a strong support network throughout my life consisting of multiple human service professionals and if I can serve as a support to someone else, it feels like the least I can do.
What’s one myth you’d like to bust about therapy?
One myth about therapy that I’d like to bust is that therapy is for “weak” or “crazy” individuals. Therapy is a safe space to explore opinions, gain insight to relieve emotional stress and learn strategies to improve your life. Therapy can be useful to any and everyone, as long as they are open minded and willing to honestly participate in the process.
What would your last meal on earth be?
Everyone who knows me, knows how much I love breakfast foods, specifically waffles! For my last meal on earth, I would without a doubt make a waffle sandwich with eggs, cheese and bacon.
What’s something you wish you could learn instantly?
I wish I could instantly learn American Sign Language (ASL). I took a course in college and loved it, but unfortunately I stopped practicing and lost what little skills I did have. I would love to be able to service individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
